Your Health, Our Priority

A complementary medicine technique which serves all body systems and focuses on the musculoskeletal (muscle and bone) and the nervous system. The practitioner endeavours to find the cause of the presenting symptoms during consultation and will discuss the findings and work on diagnosis and a plan of care thereafter.

Alterations in the biomechanics of the body can lead to postural issues and can affect your gait and therefore muscles. A full explanation is given if required during consultation, and during the course of the session.

McTimoney technique has a gentle and full body approach and is suitable to all ages and the patient receives complete care during every visit.

Fequently Asked Questions

How many sessions will be required?

This depends on the following factors which are discussed during initial consultation:

    • Age
    • Nature of the problem
    • Extent of condition
    • Level of fitness
    • Patient participation i.e. on after care advice and exercise
    • Type of work and hobbies
Typically, patients may require up to 6 sessions to notice any significant changes. Initially, the sessions may need to be carried out weekly and then at larger intervals depending on the patient's progress.

What should the patient wear during the consultation or session?

The consultation may require muscle and range of motion testing and/or neuro testing to investigate or confirm a differential diagnosis. The patient is required to wear comfortable clothing and may be asked to wear a patient gown, provided in clinic. The patient is required to wear appropriate and comfortable underwear to cover modesty and to allow movements of limbs. The practitioner reserves the right to refuse treatment if appropriate clothing is not worn. The charges will apply for any lost time.

Contraindications

There are some conditions which may require further referral, and will be discussed with the patient or guardian e.g. recent fracture, further investigations to rule in/out the differential diagnosis. The practitioner would prioritise the safety of the patient and, if appropriate, refer to the appropriate medical personnel.
